Japanese Speech to Text
Turn spoken Japanese into readable text as it is spoken. LiveToka listens through your browser, writes out Japanese with kanji, kana and punctuation, and can show a live translation next to it — useful when you follow Japanese meetings, livestreams or lectures but read English or Chinese faster than you listen.

Japanese transcription: what to expect
- Output uses normal Japanese script — kanji, hiragana and katakana — with punctuation (、 and 。) added automatically, so the transcript reads like written text.
- Japanese has no spaces between words. Sentences are segmented as they finish, so the translation appears sentence by sentence rather than word by word.
- Katakana loanwords and English terms mixed into Japanese speech (common in IT and business) are transcribed as spoken.
- Polite (keigo) and casual speech are both transcribed; the translation keeps the meaning rather than reproducing the politeness level word for word.

Frequently asked questions
Can I translate Japanese speech into Chinese instead of English?
Yes. Choose Japanese as the source language and Chinese (Mandarin) or Chinese (Traditional) as the target language. You can change the target at any time.
Does it work for Japanese livestreams?
Yes, as long as the stream audio reaches LiveToka as microphone input. See the YouTube livestream guide for how to route audio from the same computer.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. New accounts get 10 free minutes after signing in with Google — no credit card. Transcription uses credits at 1× and translation at 2×, so that is up to 10 minutes of transcription or 5 minutes of translation. Paid plans start at $9.9/month.
Do I need to install anything?
No. LiveToka runs in the browser. The latest Chrome, Edge or Safari is recommended.
Is my audio used to train AI?
No. Your voice recordings and transcripts are not used to train AI models.
