Free SRT Subtitle Translator

Translate an .srt subtitle file into 100+ languages in about a minute. Timings stay exactly as they are — only the text is translated. Download translated or bilingual subtitles.

How it works

  1. Choose your .srt file. It is read in your browser; the timings never leave your device.
  2. Pick the language to translate into, and whether you want translation only or bilingual subtitles.
  3. Sign in with Google (free) and press Translate. Subtitles are translated in batches with neighbouring lines as context, so dialogue reads naturally.
  4. Download the new .srt and load it in your video player, YouTube Studio or editing software.

Need live subtitles instead?

For livestreams, meetings and lectures, LiveToka can transcribe and translate speech in real time and save the session as SRT. See live stream translation or live captions for any video.

Frequently asked questions

Is the SRT translator free?

Yes. Sign in with Google and translate up to 1,500 subtitles per file and 3,000 subtitles per day for free. It does not use your live translation minutes.

Will the subtitle timings change?

No. The file is parsed in your browser and only the subtitle text is sent for translation. Timings and order are kept exactly; subtitles are renumbered from 1.

What are bilingual subtitles?

Each subtitle shows the translation on the first line and the original text below it — useful for language learners and for checking the translation.

Are my subtitles stored?

Subtitle text is sent to the server only to be translated and is not saved. It is not used to train AI models.

Which formats are supported?

SubRip (.srt) files up to 2 MB. Formatting tags such as <i> are kept.
